Voting affected by loss of Post Office
CRESCENT LAKE - Richard and Sally Carlson really wanted to vote in last month's primary election.
That's why Carlson, with just a few days to go before ballots were due, called the Klamath County Clerk's Office and expressed his concerns. He was told their ballots had been mailed, but were returned because they had post office box numbers that didn't reflect changes made by the Postal Service.
As the Carlsons and others living in the far northern Klamath County community of Crescent Lake learned, the U.S. Postal Service's decision to eliminate the community's unique zip code continues to cause problems.
