A check on Oregon's cards
This isn't a call for state Treasurer Ted Wheeler to stake out a tent at Occupy Portland or a suggestion that the state blithely follow hundreds of thousands of individual account holders and "move its money" to a neighborhood credit union. Rather, it is encouragement for Wheeler to take a strong stance in negotiations with U.S. Bank over fees attached to prepaid debit cards, known as ReliaCards, provided to many Oregonians who receive unemployment benefits or child support.
