Oregon #2 Green Economy; More Jobs in America's Clean Economy than Fossil Fuels Industry
Oregon’s economy is second greenest in the nation, trailing only Alaska in one ranking and behind Vermont, the Green Mountain state, in another.
In Alaska, so-called clean jobs account for 4.7 percent of employment, as opposed to 3.4 percent in second-ranked Oregon. In the private sector, Vermont, with its organic food and farming, has the nation’s highest clean-economy job share, with Oregon coming in second.
These rankings and more stats show up in a Brookings Institution study released Wednesday that finds 2.7 million Americans employed in the “clean economy” – more than the fossil-fuel industry employs.
