Regence explains rate hike at testy hearing
Oregon's Department of Consumer and Business Services scheduled the hearing largely because administrators wonder why Regence has sought increases of at least 16 percent each year since 2007.
The hearing could be the first of many. Oregon lawmakers are seriously considering a small business-backed measure that would require public consideration when insurers ask for increases higher than 7.7 percent for purchasing groups comprised of more than 1,000 members.
