Health exchange bill heads to Kitzhaber
One of the business community’s top legislative priorities earned Oregon House approval on Tuesday. The House approved Senate Bill 99, which will create the Oregon Health Insurance Exchange, by a 48-12 vote. Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber said in a release that he’ll sign the measure. The Senate passed the measure in April. Business group leaders said late last week that approval of the insurance exchange — which would create a central marketplace that helps individuals and small businesses choose their plans — could, in tandem with two other bills, make 2011 a “landmark”...
