Would Oregon voters buy longer property tax hikes for schools?
The Oregon House Revenue Committeee considers a measure that would ease the statewide property tax limits to allow voters in local school districts to approve increases for operational costs for up to 10 years. That's twice as long as the current limit.

I think I would be a no vote on a ballot measure to extend school levies to ten years. Five years is enough.

I disagree. Some measure of stability is a good thing.
In many other cases, taxes are increased (or decreased) permanently. Why should operating levies be different?

I'm biased. I want more changes in the education system. Funding the status quo is not acceptable to me. I don't want to continue a second-rate (and falling) school system. School levy votes are a chance to push for change. The longer the period the levy runs, the less say I (and the public generally) have.
