Bates pulls ahead as final votes counted, may keep his state senate seat
The race to represent Oregon's 3rd Senate District has flipped in favor of the Democratic incumbent. Sen. Alan Bates, D-Ashland, now leads Republican challenger Dave Dotterrer by 240 votes. That number, though small, offers a large enough margin of victory that there will be no mandatory recount.
