Getting the Columbia River Crossing right
Mike Francis of The Oregonian calls the potential I-5 bridge project "a process that is careening toward an unfortunate outcome" and quotes an urban designer who calls the Hayden Island interchange portion ""an utter monstrosity ... a horrible, awful, black, dark miserable place,".
The piece also includes an editorial cartoon by Jack Ohman representing the major stakeholders as vehicles running across the bridge into a brick wall. Good stuff--(C.A.)

This is refreshing commentary on CRC.
As currently proposed, the CRC is a boondoogle. It just costs way too much. Various alternatives, none seriously considered, would cost much less.
