Charlie Hales, Portland mayoral candidate, lifted newspaper article passages for editorial piece

Portland mayoral candidate Charlie Hales was forced to explain another falsehood Thursday after The Oregonian discovered a published letter he signed lifted two passages from a 2009 newspaper article.

The passages made it appear Hales had taken a recent tour of St. Johns, but the description of scenes and dialogue came from a reporter who took the tour three years ago. It did not include Hales.
