Monica Wehby: Creepy Stalker
Carla Axtman
So this happened:
Oregon GOP Senate candidate Monica Wehby was accused by her ex-boyfriend last year of “stalking” him, entering his home without his permission and “harassing” his employees, according to a Portland, Oregon police report.
Wehby, a pediatric neurosurgeon, is the leading Republican candidate to challenge Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.).
Wehby was questioned by a police officer on April 3, 2013, after being seen leaving the area near the home of Andrew Miller. Miller, the wealthy owner of a timber company, had been romantically involved with Wehby but their relationship was ending at that time, they both say now.
The truly creepy stalker part of this story is down deep in the middle paragraphs. Before involving the police, Miller alleged that Wehby had shown up at his home uninvited 5 times in the previous 10 days. She had been standing at his door, ringing the door bell for 10 minutes at a crack before finally leaving. The final straw appeared to take place the evening that Miller called the police. Wehby allegedly did the doorbell trick and then decided to skulk around to the back of the house and snuck in through an unlocked back door in an attempt to find Miller.
Yeesh. Epic creepiness.
Also... kind of a serious fail on the part of local news outlets. This is easily an Oregon-based story. Apparently if it matters to Oregonians it's not just in the Washington Post, it's also in Politico.
