SD23: Dembrow, Hall, Arias nominated
Kari Chisholm
Friday night, the precinct committee people in Senate District 23 forwarded three candidates to the Multnomah County Commission. The seat is open because Senator Jackie Dingfelder has resigned to take a job with Mayor Charlie Hales.
The three nominees are Rep. Michael Dembrow, CM Hall, and Enrique Arias.
Dembrow is a former president of the PCC faculty union and was first elected to the Oregon House in 2008. Hall is a former political operative and ASL teacher and interpreter. She's also the chair of BRO's Equality PAC. Arias is a political activist and the owner of Common Good Films.
Next step: The Multnomah County Commission will meet to confirm which will serve as a Senator. If they select Dembrow, we'll go through the same process to select his replacement.
