OR-2: It's official. Greg Walden is getting primaried!
Kari Chisholm
Pass the popcorn, folks, this is going to be fun.
Congressman Greg Walden's outrageous vote to throw the USA into default, mere hours before the deadline, hasn't softened the opposition coming from his hard right flank.
In fact, it seems to have emboldened it. Klamath County Commissioner Dennis Linthicum has made it official. From the O's Jeff Mapes:
Voters "don't like the crony capitalism and elitism that is coming out of Washington," said Linthicum, charging that while Walden presents himself as a local guy from Hood River, "he's a politician and he's made a career out of it."
As I said last month when this challenge started to materialize, stranger things have happened. Walden's got farmers mad at him for failing to pass a Farm Bill. Walden's got the Club for Growth mad at him for supporting higher spending in the stimulus. And now, he's surely got Wall Street mad at him for voting in favor of default.
C'mon folks, let's do a little crowd-sourced brainstorming. Who are plausible Democratic candidates for Congress in OR-2?
