The Petroleum Lobby is winning. Don't Let Them.

Carla Axtman

Right now in Salem, legislators are sitting on a bill that would prevent the rollback of Oregon’s Clean Fuels Program. The program is just getting off the ground. But if legislators don’t act to lift the 2015 sunset date, the program will expire and Oregon will remain captive to the oil industry.

Petroleum dependence is terrible for our economic stability and our health: High prices at the pump, toxic tar sands, oil spills, refinery accidents, climate disruption, rising asthma rates. This isn’t what we’re about as Oregonians.

Blue Oregon Action is partnering with Oregon Environmental Council to ask legislators to lift the sunset and prevent a rollback of this important environmental program. Sign our petition now.

The Clean Fuels Program requires fuel providers to reduce the carbon intensity of Oregon’s fuel mix by 10% within 10 years. An analysis by Jack Faucett Associates for the Oregon Dept. of Environmental Quality found that if fully implemented, the program could save Oregonians as much as $1.6 billion in fuel costs, create between 800 and 29,000 jobs, grow personal income by as much as $2.6 billion, and generate as much as $2.1 billion in Gross State Product.

The petroleum industry lobby is doing all it can to squelch Oregon’s Clean Fuels Program. Sign the petition NOW and let state lawmakers know that you want them to stand up to out-of-state oil interests and to lift the sunset on Oregon’s Clean Fuels Program.

To Oregon Legislators:

Oregon's Clean Fuels Program is vital to Oregon's economy and for our public health. Please vote for SB 488 to prevent the rollback and lift the sunset on Oregon's Clean Fuels Program.
