Update: Oregon's gun safety legislation in the Senate
Carla Axtman
The four gun safety bills currently in the Oregon Senate Judiciary Committee are scheduled for a work-session this Thursday. Amendments to the bills will likely be attached.
I'm aware of two amendments thus far. One would remove the "live-fire" requirement to get a concealed carry permit (but retain the in-person test requirement). The other would change the "no guns in schools" bill to allow schools to opt-in, rather than opt-out. As I understand it, both amendments are expected to be added.
Thursday is the LAST DAY that a bill can come out of a committee and still make it through the session. So it's do or die time for those bills. If you haven't already, please sign the Blue Oregon Action Petition, asking legislators to pass these common sense gun safety laws. If you've already signed, please share the petition on your Facebook wall and ask your friends to sign.
Let's get this done.
To the Oregon Legislature:
To prevent mass shootings, save lives, and curb gun violence, it's time to expand Oregon's common-sense gun safety laws this year. Please act without delay.
