Commenting problems resolved - sort of
Kari Chisholm
For the past week, we've been having a series of technical difficulties related to commenting and liking here at BlueOregon. Thank you for your patience as we've worked through these challenges.
First, know that we're not alone. Facebook made a technical change - without notice - to the authentication systems that we use, and lots of web developers and app builders are facing similar challenges. (Cue the Facebook haters here.)
We're continuing to work on a long-term fix that would allow us to continue to own, manage, and archive the comments and likes here at BlueOregon. (Not least of which because we really dearly love our scoreboard.) But it's clear that it's going to take some substantial engineering work.
But for now, especially given the special session, we're going to go with the quick fix -- using Facebook's easy commenting and liking plug-ins. In general, while things look a bit more Facebook-y, you won't notice much change. (One thing: the comments will be organized a bit differently - with priority order given to your friends, strongly-liked comments, etc.)
Again, thanks for your patience. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.
