OR-1: Bonamici first on the air
Kari Chisholm
This weekend, Suzanne Bonamici became the first candidate on the airwaves in the first congressional district race.
She promised to "stand up for Oregon families and small business instead of tax breaks for oil companies and the wealthiest." And she said she would seek to protect Social Security and Medicare.
Bonamici describes a mortgage fraud case she worked on as a "consumer advocate," although the doesn't mention that she was working at the Federal Trade Commission at the time, back in the 1980s (although a newspaper headline shown in the ad does refer to the FTC's role in the case). Presumably it sounds better to say she took on the company as a "consumer advocate" rather than as a government attorney.
Discuss.
