OR-1: Ryan Deckert is out.
Kari Chisholm
Over at the O, Jeff Mapes reports that former state senator Ryan Deckert - who is the president of the Oregon Business Association - has announced that he won't run for Congress:
"After a great deal of thought and consideration, I have decided against running for the first congressional district seat. I had three areas of consideration: family, my current position with OBA, and the dynamics of a congressional race. I enjoyed this last weekend with my wife and three daughters (though sunshine would be nice). I have a great job that I like and I do feel certain that other good, credible candidates will join the race for the 1st CD in the coming months."

Full disclosure: My firm built Brad Avakian's campaign website. I speak only for myself.

Good news. I think Wu would get the nomination, much to the party and the state's detriment if there is a divided field running against him (Wu) in the primary.

The outcome in Mr. Wu's district is important; I know folks who live in his district and have supported him financially. So it is real. Commpared to what?
Dennis Kucinich is being mapped out in Ohio and may show up in Inslee's seat in Washington State. The third district has been taken over by Koch brothers puppet Herrea.
In the Defense Authorization Bill to be voted on this week there is a provision, 1024 I think, that would give the President unlimited power to deploy the military including in the U.S. if he thought that terrorism was afoot.
So President Palin or Cain will have the ability to make Stalin look like a faint dreamer. Cuz there does not seem to be a second term for BO in the cards.

Marvin, I think you need a new deck of cards.

Speaker Boehner has demanded, and Barack (Barry) Sotero aka Obama has agreed to put forth three NAFTA style trade agreements with no modifications. Those agreements are with South Korea, Panama, and Columbia.
The agreement with South Korea will cost the state of Minnesota seventy-seven thousand jobs. Guess that is fine with Ron Morgan and his full deck of jokers.
In addition, the ability to negotiate for the extension of Bush era tax cuts was what, Ron? Your idea of tough? My idea is that he punted on first down. It only cost you six hundred billion dollars. Sellwood Bridge anyone?
But frankly, Ron, I have had it with you phony Republicans. Yes, if Obama wins a second term it will be because the Republicans realize they can not do better.
Make you happy, Ron?

Marvin, let's stay on topic, please.
This is a post about Oregon's first congressional district - not international free trade or defense authorization bills.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Kucinich will parachute into Washington County.

I don't understand. Everywhere I go, people keep saying "Wu is toast." If he's dead on the water, why aren't the sharks circling in for the kill? Perhaps its not so easy to defeat a Congressman who's been in office for a decade, tiger costume or no.
And Marvin, I really don't know what the heck you're saying. John Boehner is the least effective and powerless Speaker in decades. The idea that Obama is beholden to Boehner is laughable. And when "adults" like Mitch Daniels and Mike Huckabee bow out of a possible contest against Obama due to his inevitable re-election, I really don't know what you mean by saying "Cuz there does not seem to be a second term for BO in the cards"...
