Thank you, Kari. I was deeply moved and at the same time shamed by the president's words for some of my reactions and speech in response to this tragedy. It is a call to a higher and deeper place for me and for all. I am most appreciative that as Americans we can try to move forward, in the midst of policy disagreements still regarding political adversaries within this circle of "we", ever "striving to enlarge the circle of our greater concern" as the president calls us to.

Yes, indeed, Barack Obama is a completely masterful orator and his tribute to the fallen was moving.
My problem is that I think foreigners are just as important as are Americans.
How's come, then, no moving tribute to the innocent Iraqis who were shot from helicopter by the US troops in Baghdad, as shown on the WikiLeaks-released video?
No, rather what we get as relates to the fates of foreigners is the same old blather about US heroism on the battlefield.
