The new math: courtesy of your Oregon Tea Party
Carla Axtman
From the Oregon Tea Party Facebook page:
Yeah..you just can't make this stuff up.
Update: 12PM: As you can see in comments, Oregon Tea Party leader Geoff Ludt insists that he was being "ironic" in his post. So..to be fair, let's give Geoff the benefit of the doubt for a moment. The fact that this was flagged for me by progressives and conservatives (none of whom saw the 'irony') is interesting. Maybe all these folks (and one conservative who left a correction in the Facebook thread) are just terribly stupid. Or perhaps it has to do with other "ironic" comments by Tea Party leaders.
Kinda tough to see "irony" on that kind of scale.

Oh geez, Carla brought a super soaker to a squirt gun fight. Here comes the OPT with their comments, all wet as you can imagine. Carla, nice set up. You are going to read some crazy shizz on this thread today is my bet, as I am sure you calculated.

Maybe the other 8" should be lbs? That "depatment" is is too fat:) Tea party folks sure don't use it.

I would like to sincerely ask every Tea Party member and Republican party member - including and especially the GOP on the House of Representatives' floor … to please at least have the simple decency to check with me before they claim to speak for me.

B E A U T I F U L !
What department did Rand Paul propose cutting again?
Suppose there might be any reason to do so if "America wonders about the other 8 percent"?
The irony was intentional and calculated ...
Thanks for rebroadcasting for me!

Irony? LOL...the whole entire group is ironic, Geoff.
Whatever you say, man.

Jan 28, '11
Oh someone is mad! What's wrong Carla? Did you make a boo-boo and splash it all over the front page of BlueOregon? This is rich! Glad I got a screen capture!
10:09 a.m.
Jan 28, '11
LOL Geoff...mad? What could I possibly have to be angry over?
Your own members believe you can't do the math, according to comments. Looks pretty non-ironic to them:
"Victoria Mccurry: really, does every town, city, county, state and the feds have to have a dept. of education.. how much is redundant that could be cut .. course that moves more folks into the out of work pool but we have to use some common sense here.."
"David Darnell: The other 15%?"

Jan 28, '11
And the hits keep coming ...
Are you really comparing yourself to a Tea Party member? Really? A smart progressive such as yourself? Really? This is just getting better and better.
10:36 a.m.
Jan 28, '11
So...Tea Party members and progressives like me just aren't smart enough to get your "irony", Geoff?
You really wanna go there?
Just cop to it already. You screwed up. It happens. LOL
10:45 a.m.
Jan 28, '11
No Carla, I'm saying you and David have something in common. We don't need to bring the larger communities into it. You and David.
The difference of course being that when David missed it, he only left a comment. When a smart progressive such as yourself missed it, you put it on the front page of BlueOregon.com
10:52 a.m.
Jan 28, '11
What exactly do David and I have in common? He's a Christian, capitalist conservative who likes Ted Nugent, according to his Facebook.
You're officially drowning, Geoff. LOL

Just let this idiot keep making a fool of himself. It's such a great promotional tool for the teabaggers!

Jan 28, '11
Carla...I don't understand how the joke could be missed? Someone suggests cutting the "Department of Education by 85%" and America wonders "what about the other 8". Ha ha. Funny. Just because a gentleman named David didn't get it, doesn't mean it wasn't a joke. Why does something like a JOKE have to be lambasted? Good God, when will it end?
10:55 a.m.
Jan 28, '11
It is a joke, Trisha. Just not the way you think it is. :)
11:03 a.m.
Feb 4, '11
It could be a joke, or a typo, except the "8" key is a little too far from the "5" key ;-)

Jan 28, '11
Hey Geoff, we're not angry, we're laughing. And we're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you.

Oh I forgot to mention...it's so "ironic" that one of your members posted a correction in comments. :)

Yesterday on another blog I got into a dialogue with a Tea Partier who was maintaining that four-fifths = 20 percent. Or was that "ironic" too? It's hard to tell sometimes ...
11:22 a.m.
Jan 29, '11
I get that it's a joke, just a joke with a message opposite of the one that you intend, since the message of the joke is that we need MORE resources put into education, not less.
And tell me, Geoff, was "depatment" also a joke, or was that just a typo and lack of proof reading?

I guess you just want to make the pie higher.

Feb 3, '11
You're too stupid to grasp the concept of "irony," Geoff. People like you, who actively work for the overthrow and destruction of our democratically elected government, are simply filthy. If it were possible to revoke a person's citizenship, you would be a prime candidate.
Oh, and nice math, btw. Irony, my arse...

I'm going to leave you now. I have to work today. I would love to stay and see what kind of gymnastics you put on for show but, unfortunately, I can't.
ta-ta-for-now ... ;o)

Geoff to 'get' what you obviously did would require them to have a sense of humor or appreciation for satire.

Don't lie about being employed, either. Someone who can't figure out that 85+8 does not equal 100 surely can't hold a job for longer than two weeks.

Karla, It appears insults are all you have left. Cute. :)
Doesn't make you look smart, just bitter.
You actually took a little facebook post, one of thousands of comments, in order to insult. I get it...you see us as a threat. You should really "tone" down the rhetoric in the name of "civility".
Do you have a policy plan to address unsustainable government spending, and crippling debt besides more unsustainable government spending and more crippling debt?
I'd like to hear it. Lol
2:21 p.m.
Jan 28, '11
Cut defense spending by 50% and eliminate all "homeland security" programs created by the Bush admin.
I mean, if you are going to hate government, you gotta hate all government.
Eliminate the Bush tax breaks for everyone making more than $250,000. Means test Social Security and dramatically reduce payments for those making over $250,000.
End the war on drugs. How many billions are spent every year to pay for government stormtroopers.
Eliminate welfare spending on HS dropouts. (I don't know how much money the is, but I'm trying to tick off everyone here)
Flat tax with a poverty level exemption. All income, from any source, taxed the same. NO DEDUCTIONS.
That should have struck a nerve with just about everyone :-)
2:45 p.m.
Jan 29, '11
Not a thing wrong with the first three items in your list, but given "end SOME homeland security programs." I'm all for these targeted cuts and seriously, there may be no way to make a dent in the debt without these.

I think the military's worth keeping.

So you're all about cutting big government, except the big government you like.
No problem with intrusive, massive government intervention and spending programs as long as they pass the Taft Test.
11:14 a.m.
Feb 4, '11
I do too, Victoria. But the procurement process is corporate socialism and it's eating us alive. What do YOU suggest we do about it?
3:45 p.m.
Feb 3, '11
Yes, you people are a threat. A threat to civilization and an orderly society.

If you can forgive me, I already forgave you for our dust up a while ago Mr. Kuzmanich. Geoff says you are a currency expert and I am really interested in the evolution of fiat currency, the central banking systems and what the Paul family wants to do with all that. FB me sometime.

Feb 3, '11
Uhhh, no.
4:11 p.m.
Jan 28, '11
Of course he managed to spell "department" wrong too. Or was that also "ironic"?
4:16 p.m.
Jan 28, '11
Oh, and there should have been a semi-colon instead of a comma after "85 percent."
1:38 p.m.
Jan 29, '11
And I suppose when Michele Bachmann was being "ironic" when she spoke with pride and emotion at how the founding fathers had eliminated slavery. The Tea Party Express co-founder was at a loss for words when he was asked why he chose Michele Bachman to be their spokesperson for their movement on the occasion of the SOTU.
Making stuff up seems to be a requirement for teaparty membership, especially if you are in the leadership. But that's a small order if your rabid right followers don't know anything, including the fact that slavery didn't end with the writing of the U.S. Constitution, or that our present day president actually is U.S. citizen.

No one hates you, Geoff. You flatter yourself. Everyone here just seems to feel sorry for you. You're doing a fine job of embarrassing yourself and the "Oregon Tea Party," though. Keep up the good work!

Aww... You threaten our children and the future of the country and are surprised at the reaction?
That said, I recommend that you look at a couple of the other threads here, You'll notice that this is one of the smaller discussions going on...
