Local candidate roundup
Kari Chisholm
Here's the outcomes in some of the local candidate races that I've been following. I'm sure there are others around the state that folks care about -- feel free to share those results in the comments.
-
In the race for Metro President, Tom Hughes is leading Bob Stacey by a 6321-vote margin - or 50.6% to 48.7%. But Stacey is winning 56.7% in Multnomah County (where there are still votes to be counted.) Hughes won Washingon with 60.3%, but the vote count there is final (pending a few ballots that landed at the wrong counties.)
-
In the Yamhill County race that was effectively tied in the primary, Mary Stern won with a comparative landslide - 52-48%, or 1422 votes - over lunatic fringe candidate Mary Starrett.
-
In Washington County, it looks like a split decision for progressives - with Bob Terry defeating Greg Mecklem (boo), but Greg Malinowski winning over Mike Niehuser (yay).
-
In Multnomah County, Loretta Smith won big over Karol Collymore - reversing the outcome of the primary election.
-
In Lane County, Sid Leiken managed to overcome his 2009 meltdown to win a county commission seat. And Jay Bozievich defeated progressive Jerry Rust.
-
In Clackamas County, Ann Lininger won big with 66% of the vote. But in the other seat, Bob Austin is losing to Paul Savas by a scant 741 votes out of over 100,000 cast.
