The Revolution Does Not Carry Umbrellas

It was a beautiful day of sunshine on Memorial Day. Lots of folks out and about, enjoying the weather.
Some spent the day remembering loved ones - I saw lots of folks at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in the West Hills - while others enjoyed the unofficial kickoff of the summer season by strolling through the neighborhood, heading to the park with the little ones (did that too), or hanging out in the yard and firing up the grill.
Unless you happen to be one of the local Tea Party folks. In that case, you spent the day huddled indoors fearing the rain. Sunday night, at 9:28 pm, the update on their big Memorial Day event:
OTP Memorial Day Event Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather
Dear attendees and participants of “Not In Vain II” Memorial Day event in Hillsboro,
We regret to inform you that the rain forecast is an issue we will not be able to overcome on Memorial Day, and our event is officially CANCELLED. We have held out hope until the final 24-hour forecast, and attempted to acquire another venue. Unfortunately, circumstances are not in our favor.
I don't know about you, but if you're running an operation billed as a New American Revolution, and you've got an event to "pay tribute to America's fallen", why would a little rainfall get in the way?
Or maybe these Tea Party folks are all just transplants from California. That would explain a lot.

And, for what it's worth, I've got the Monday morning weather forecast from the Oregonian: "A few showers".
Sheesh. Maybe if they see their shadow, they'll run back inside for another six weeks of winter.
