Election Night: Live Twitter Feed

blueoregon admin

In an election night experiment, we're presenting two live feeds from Twitter.

The first is a collection of official and media news sources, as well as a handful of key participants, that will (hopefully) give you a live look at the latest elections news, rumors, and insta-analysis.

The second feed is a live feed of your BlueOregon contributors on Twitter, also with election night reactions.

To weigh in, join the conversation on Twitter - or post your comments. (And if we've left anyone out, be sure to let @blueoregon know!)

Multnomah County elections is Johnny on the spot. 71 - 28 on both measures with 46 percent of precincts reporting. Both measures narrowly trailing in Clackamas. Both measures at 53-46 in Washington County. 58-41 against in Deschutes. Both measures currently leading in Marion - bit of a surprise there.

  • (Show?)

Looks like they're going to pass.

  • (Show?)

Okay, this is blowing me away. OPB reporting that the "no" camp only got 55% in Josephine. Whoa. Something major may be happening here.

  • (Show?)

I wish I could see TA right about now.

    Oooh, OPB's mentioning us.

  • (Show?)

Bill Lunch made the same point on OPB. This will reverberate to California for sure.

  • (Show?)

Jeff - By my count, these measures are leading in Benton, Clatsop, Columbia, Marion, Polk, Multnomah, Tillamook, and Washington and losing narrowly in Yamhill, Jackson, Clackamas. That's a recipe for a wider-than-anticipated win for the "Yes" side.

    Frankly, I am stunned.

  • (Show?)

    Sal, amazing.

Anyone know why/how the O is getting the numbers before the state's putting them out?

  • (Show?)

Kate Brown, on OPB, just said Lane and Lincoln's results weren't in. If that's true, fahgeddaboutit.

Congrats! Layoff notices going out by weeks end. Too bad-Sooo sad.

Jeff - The counties post about 5-10 minutes ahead of the state.

Congratulations to all who were active in the campaign. On behalf of Oregon's children, seniors, disabled, on behalf of all citizens who value law enforcement and public services, I thank you.

  • (Show?)

Congratulations to the entire Yes for Oregon campaign team who ran an exceptional campaign. We must specifically congratulate the fearless leaders - Jessica Stevens and Kevin Looper. With a special shout out to Steve Novick, otherwise known as "Oregon's unstoppable progressive force."

It's a proud day to be an Oregonian.

Whattya know, sometimes the good guys do win.

  • (Show?)

The winners and losers are going to be interesting to consider, but Isaacs is right to cite Novick as a big winner. The most visible face/voice of the forces of Yes deserves to take a big bow.

If these relatively positive numbers hold up in the rural counties, I think it's probably because they have more to lose from state budget cuts than we do in the metro areas.

I'm pretty surprised. The anti folks appeared to have more money and they seemed to have more people out on the streets - I realize that doesn't mean much a lot of times.

Figure Kurt Schrader also has to see this as a good sign - esp. if Bruun voted against the taxes in the first place.

Congrats to Looper and the rest of the team (and EVERY legislator that did their job in offering a responsible budget package)! We may well look back on this as a watershed in Oregon politics.

Novick's comedic turn on The City Club this past week was a high point. Even my son's friends were listening and REMEMBERED what they heard. THank you Steve. You gotta be relevant if you wanna build the future. And sometimes the relevant you gotta be has nothing to do with acting Think Tankie! THanks.

Another big winner in this might be Bob Jenson. He and Greg Smith were the only Republican legislators to vote in favor of this legislation. The measure failed 51-48 in Umatilla County, but the margin of victory does not bode well for the Freedomworks-funded candidate Mike Mathisen who moved from Salem to Pendleton to take on Jenson.

So: what does this REALLY mean? NO spin, just what motion does this presage on the part of Movement?

Whew! Cynicism failed. Results from Deschutes County not to thrilling. However, I didn't expect that they would be great. Thankful the majority of Oregonians have a clue. Thank you Yes for Oregon.

We're winning Marion? THAT I didn't expect. Do you suppose all that "Running against Salem" rhetoric backfired?

Seems to me the economy has gotten so bad that a critical mass of voters no longer considers themselves "pre-rich" and about to make it to millionairehood, at which time they won't want to pay any taxes....

Marion, Polk, and Umatilla were competitive because there are lots of state workers there. And Marion voted for Obama and Kulongoski, remember, and Polk nearly voted for Obama, too. Marion County is not that conservative.

It's very clear to me that what happened in Massachusetts did not happen in Oregon. Either there is not a national uprising against Democrats and big government, or at least there is not in Oregon. This bodes well for Oregon Democrats in the fall.

The Medford School District will stay "even" thanks to the vote. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked on the Yes on 66/67 campaign and to every yes voter. The 20 newspapers who endorsed the No vote will need to evaluate just how in touch they are wilth the electorate. Lastly, to the Chamber of Commerce in Medford and Chambers across the state who fought just for businesses interests, you are out of touch with the majority of Oregonians.Try listening and compromising....yeah right.

It looks like we have a score at the end of game 1 of the Western Conference Finals of the David Brooks Battle for the Future of America Challenge:

Thinking American Workers: 55 Oxycontin Dropping Hoodwinked Teabaggers: 45

To Lundt and the rest of you toadies for the rich class, I have a tried and true message delivered to you with total sincerity from the real working class: Don't Sing it. Bring it!

And by "Bring It" we don't mean photo shopped nudie pictures of Sarah Palin--- even if you have determined what Hayek or Friedman would have paid for them in the utopian free market. Like Cheetos, we like that stuff but we don't buy them as much as you do.

Everything that I read in the media indicated the Yes campaign was better financed than the No campaign, so I'm not so surprised by the outcome. Clearly, this is a big win for public employee labor unions, which pretty much bankrolled the Yes campaign. And organized it. The staffing and organization at 411 NE 19th was better than that at the Obama and Merkely campaign offices last year.

Congratulations to all who voted. I do hope this is the right time to pass these measures. I voted yes, and saw valid points by both sides. Although practically every time I brought up the negatives ended up getting attacked and called a troll by someone out there.

I also learned to my surprise what a whiner and crybaby Novick can be when things don't go his way momentarily ;)

The Yes campaign was better financed? Wow, that is an interesting take on reality. Better organized--you bet. Better message--you bet. And a better outcome.

As to folks on here wondering just what the fair share of the rich is, I say, not there yet.

    Quran’s translation

    Dr Irfan Zafar

Every other day one receives translation of the Quranic Verses alongwith their references on the SMS forwarded by people without realizing the fact that circulating religious literature without first confirming its authantacity can cause a lot of damage to our religion in so many ways. I recently came across such translation and was shocked to note that the verse number and the content had been deliberately changed by someone with the intention to damage our religion. Next time you recive such content, please do refer to the Quran before forwarding it to others.
