Maybe if he borrowed an abacus...

Kari took note last week of GOP gubernatorial hopeful Allen Alley's plan to walk 400 miles from Baker City to Portland to campaign for the job.
Step by step, mile by mile, Alley says he will make the 400-mile cross-state trek starting Aug. 3. He expects it will take him about 40 days, walking an average of 15 miles a day.
Hmmm....
I'm no math genius, but last I checked 15x40=600, not 400.
I have no doubt that this is an honest mistake by Alley and in the grand scheme of things, relatively harmless.
It does makes me wonder if this lack of mathematical acumen may have contributed to the enormous problems at Pixelworks while Alley was in charge. Like perhaps he was thinking, "Hmm...if I we spend $15,000 per day for the next 40 days, that'll only be $400,000..", rather than the $600K it really cost.
I report, you decide.

I betcha he's not walking every day. So the day's he's walking, he's averaging 15 miles per day. Maybe some days he's holding town halls, and resting and talking to people in the towns he walked to the day before.

Applying Carla's 'math acumen' logic to Barack "57 states" Obama might explain why BO believes cutting the deficit in half by 2013 is in any way a significant achievement.

Duh seems to be having trouble with the concept of "average" -- clearly, an Alley staffer.

This would be breaking news on Fox if Fox was a liberal hack network. Way to lower the bar. Who are you in a race to the bottom with.....

Quit being paranoid Kari.
This was simply a hastily constructed post from a normally stellar reported/commentator.
But here's a question for you since you question not only my alliances but also my intelligence.
You pay an employee a salary of $4,000/month. And they are at work 20 days out of 30 per month on average. Which statement is more accurate
Signed......Not an Alley ally/staffer/supporter/voter

If Alley isn't walking every day, then he'd be going fewer miles, not more. That would make Alley's math worse, not better.
I think the "hastily constructed" part might belong to "Duh"....

The Tour de France lasts 23 days. There are 2 rest days. There are 21 stages. The tour route is 3500 km long. On average, how long do the riders bike in a day?
Is it:
3500 km divided by 21 days actually ridden, giving you an average of 166.7 km./ ridden in a day? (my position)
OR....
3500 km divided by 23 total days of the tour, including rest days, giving you an average of 152 km/ ridden in a day? (which is your position)
Maybe we should ask ask the riders how long they think the stages are. (and by the way, if you add more rest days it makes your logic look worse, not Alley's. But that's what happens when you post 56 seconds after someone else without thinking it through)
You've reported. I decided. Let others do the same.
