Obama's first (sort of) State of the Union Address
Kari Chisholm
Tonight, President Barack Obama will address a joint session of Congress.
While it's basically a State of the Union address, it's not technically called that when it's the first one in the presidency. (Supposedly because the new President is still learning what the state of the union is -- like he didn't figure it out while he was running. Stupid, but true. Ah, tradition.)
Anyway, what are you hoping to hear tonight?
And while we're talking about that, here's a Barack-O-Bingo card generator, courtesy of Comedy Central. As always, get five in a row, and you win (or have to finish your drink, or whatever.) Enjoy!

Maybe you should throw in some words such as "Fear," "Crisis," "Meltdown," "Lobbyists," "Tax Evasion," "Broken Promises," etc. I think you get my idea.

"While Democrats hope to take steps to ease the recession, Republicans are hoping that the nation will collapse."
BINGO!
or
"While Democrats want to change the US auto industry into a strong one that can compete against all comers, Republicans believe the perfect alternative would be to kill the Big Three, nuke Detroit and build more non-union Toyota factories in the Deep South."
BINGO!

No need to even listen to the speech.
The AP already has a story up on the wires reviewing what was said, and reactions to it.

"Democrats want to change the US auto industry into a strong one"?
How are they doing to do that?
When did Democrats ever strenghten any industry?

In the speech I believe the President said something about ending the war in Iraq/withdrawal of troops.
And I believe he neglected to mention that he plans to leave 50K US troops in country (although these will not be classified as "combat troops", they will still be designated to carry out engagements).
The US gov't (Dems & GOP) will almost always lie to you, especially about foreign policy (I have a lifetime of experience in being dealt this hooey with which to back up that statement).

Although the President does say ALL US troops will be out of Iraq by 2011.
Sorry if I'm overly skeptical.
Hey- how 'bout a thread about how all the Clintonites are tied up with Kigame/Rwanda in facilitating genocide in Congo (a thread upon which I wouldn't be overly skeptical)?
