Lars Larson gives Sarah Palin a little tongue
Kari Chisholm
Today, Lars interviewed Sarah Palin -- though "interview" is a strong term. Mostly, it was a big wet sloppy french kiss.
The O's Jeff Mapes cataloged the first seven questions on his blog - and posted the audio (which I listened to so you don't have to.)
Which of Lars's questions do you think was the most sloppiest, wettest, most obsequious?
If you're a real masochist, listen to the full interview over at the Mapes blog.

Uh...you know you've lost when you're evoking Rich Little.
Just saying.

Hey Chris: remember how you wanted me to write an article on the sexualization of this campaign?
I don't have to. Look at the poll -- huge color bar saying that Lars' asking about her attractiveness blah blah... :|

I'm not sure why this is such a surprise?
It's not like Lars hides his conservatism, or his political affection for Sarah Palin. I don't get why you seem so shocked?
I'm almost certain liberal talk show hosts Rachael Maddow and Al Franken would be just as "sweet" to Barack Obama or any other liberal candidate they sees eye-to-eye with. I've seen it and heard it, and I don't expect anything different.
Lars' job is to be partisan and play to the conservative base in Oregon. And he does it well, whether you like him or not. Just my observations.

He didn't really ask this, did he?
"What scares you the most about the idea of Barack Obama as president?"
Planet Lars is a sad place these days.

Lars is very talented at drawing a certain audience so that Paul Allen's KXL can sell advertising. That is Lars only reason for existing, just like Rush and the various idiots on Fox, talk radio, etc. Right and left wing commercial media is all about delivering a certain volume of the target demographic to the advertisers. Its a free country, and the business model appears to be a profitable one, so who cares.
Giving credibility to Lars outside his little corporate media world is a mistake. Unless you are trying to sell denture cream, adjustable mattresses or gold investments, forget about Lars. Without the flashlight of attention, he and his right wing cockroach buddies will soon scurry back to where they came from.

Lars Larson is like David Reinhard and just as predictable. He probably enjoyed his pit bull session with Sarah Palin who appears to be his intellectual equal.

Sheesh Greg - tasty invective. I am trying really hard these days not to resort to Shredding as an entertainment. But it's mighty, mighty hard. Invective simply brings the glow to my cheeks. Sigh.

Today's Washington Post endorsement of Obama cited quite a few reasons; interestingly one of the first one mentions was McCain's selection of Palin, a move the Post declared reckless, impulsive, and as putting the country at risk. Watching the trajectory of McCain's polling number since announcing Palin's selection, it appears a huge percentage of the country agrees with that assessment, as do I.
Let's be glad McCain went for the Hail Mary (and failed) instead of playing the long game and picking a competent running mate more appealing to centrists and anyone who thinks the earth is more the 6,000 years old. Thanks, John, and thank YOU Sarah Palin! (Elizabeth Dole and Kay Bailey Hutchinson are surely sharpening their knives to deal with John when he returns to the senate next year.)

The woman is a major party candidate for vice-president of the United States. Lars interviewed her as if she were engaged in a high school cheerleading competition.

Thanks, Kari, for the image of Lars giving Palin a "big wet sloppy French kiss"...that will haunt me all weekend.

Rebecca, it's not just invective, it's invective with analytical meat and wise advice. Hat trick! Go Greg!
Also, rw, I get your comment to me above, but what I really want from you is your take on the whole enchilada, expansion on the peeks at comparison between Palin vs. Hillary in the media (& partisans) you made back when, the sexualization of Obama, and battle over Michelle Obama (sexy & smart, vs. angry, leaving the undistributed middle of smart critical thinker), sex and McCain -- he's not sexualized so much, but his sexuality (filtered through comments about relations to wives) and sex/gender attitudes ... one other thing that's just struck me is how little of that stuff appeared concerning other potential female running mates for Obama, tho' maybe 'twas just that the process didn't get that far.
Anyway, that's a lot to ask, so maybe I'll screw up my courage and write something for you to bounce your thoughts off of, if belatedly.

This doesn't come close to Rush's gushing phone call with Sarah a few days ago. That one was officially phone sex. A cashier at my local grocery store summed up the sorry state of the Republican ticket this way: It's not enough that they don't win. We have to ask ourselves how did it even come this close to happening? I assume nothing about the outcome but it would be great if the mighty right-wing talkers throw every sleazy trick they have at this and still come up way short. That would be HILARIOUS.

It ain't over yet, Bill. I recommend you keep a watch on the shenanigans of the GOP in Ohio before opening the champagne.

Lars and Rush aren't the only men who want to get into Sarah Palin's knickers. So does the President of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto's widower

Sorry, the link doesn't work. Just google "Zardari Palin georgeous".

Nothing says out of touch more than quoting Rich Little as an authority on comedy. Really, I would have given Lars some credit if he mentioned Jeff Foxworthy or Larry the Cable Guy.

Like I said, I assume nothing about the outcome. Some pretty serious rats are cornered here. We could even have martial law.

NC - nice. Our homeland. Drop a pinch of tobacco on the earth and whisper a thank you there. The heart speaks in a whisper: the four winds carry our heart calls.... and we will hear it here.
Enjoy that time. Then get back to the grind here.
