Charlie, can you put some explanation or description with your video posts?

Signed, the coalition of the slow internet connection. :)

It is a will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas, etc) produced video for Obama built around some hip-hop themed music, entitled "Yes We Can" (or Si Se Puede in the Latino community). You'll recognize quite a few of the "singers" from the entertainment industry. It is very well-done. It didn't persuade me to support Obama, but it shows that Hillary doesn't have a lock on all Cali entertainment money.

Evan, this is a Web video by will.i.am, as noted above, produced with director Jesse Dylan, son of Bob. Celebrities featured include: Scarlett Johansson, Tatyana Ali, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta and Nick Cannon.

I posted the spot because I think it's hands down the best supporter-generated video this year by far. And the video has only been out there about a day and already it's taken off.

To answer another question you had in a different thread, what I saw in Florida in April makes me believe Obama would be a strong competitor in the Tampa/Orlando corridor. There are plenty of other places, of course, but that's what I've seen with my own eyes nearly eight months ago. And as you probably know, that I-4 slither is critical for statewide Florida victory.

Your question was geographic, but look at the demographics too. Obama is generating massive young voter turnout and unprecedented recruitment of the next generation of activists. That's the type of electoral model and campaign that will help in marginal Republican districts and down ticket races around the country.

    Dan,

I saw the other Dylan son and the Wallflowers at Hillary's Birthday party (in a huge theatre). Sang along Elvis Costello. Never mistook the show for the candidate.

Problem is that everything that Obama does seems produced by Hollywood. There is no substance, only style and big, broad platitudes. Never less risk taken in a candidate. Never less said except motivational speaking. Below is my favorite Hillary video speaking about about an important topic to me, Teen Suicide.

Hillary cannot create a progressive majority. Her rationale for her campaign is "it's my turn at bat. Gimme."

However, Barack is our best hitter. He CAN create a true progressive majority.

Love that video! It is going across the internet like wildfire! It is notable that many of the red-state Dem office holders are endorsing Obama. They recognize that he will help other Dem. candidates and not be a drag on their chances like Hillary is.

    Where's Michael Jackson?

You know, B.O.'s opponent has a pretty compelling celebrity video out as well:

If it wins me brownie points with Scarlett Johansson I'm totally voting for Obama!

    j/k

This is an amazing video that is spreading like widefire over the internet.

In less than 48 hours on Youtube it has been watch 500,000 times.

Saw a rallly at UCLA on CSPAN tonight in which Stevie Wonder endorsed Obama. But the thing that impressed me was the very powerful and passionate speech that Michelle Obama gave. She's got some chops.

This Californian has already voted, for Obama. I like his CAN DO message. Remember those old WWII posters that said "WE CAN DO IT"? These days on everything from health care to transportation to education to middle east peace everyone is giving excuses why we can't do it. Too many special interests, they say. Not enough money, they say. Nobody can agree on anything, they say. The corporations won't go for it, they say. The other party won't go for it, they say. They've been fighting for generations, they say.

I think we can do it, if we stop making excuses.

    Thanks, Charlie! Awesome video.

I've been moving away from the "Clinton will be a more effective president" feeling to the "Obama will match up better against McCain, and let's see what his politics can do" feeling.

Question: can Obama get Republicans to remove tax breaks for oil companies, to pass single-payer health care, to cut our bloated military-industrial complex?

Or will the inspirational words fall into the buzz saw of Washington politics (as has already happened with Obama's health care plan and plan to increase military spending)?

When the rhetoric hits the road, what happens?
