I guess I don't have enough of a sense of humor to find the comedy in this. Good try though.

Excuse me while I go throw up...insert sound of barfing

I guess the better question is, could we do worse the Bush/Cheney? I think TA answered the question.

The Confederate battle flag was, and continues to be, a symbol of treason against the United States. Eleven members of my ancestral family lost their lives in service to the Union. Please remove this offensive image from the web site.

    Thank you

Are you folks even understanding what's happening here?

    To recap:

The Oregonian reports that Gordon Smith was a key supporter of Trent Lott in his comeback bid for minority whip. Not only did he vote for him, but he seconded the motion, and spoke in favor of Trent Lott.

Seriously, it's GORDON SMITH who is supporting the segregation candidate for minority whip.

    Yawn.

How about we talk about Ron Wyden's cute positioning on habeas corpus instead?

Well If My Recollection is not too faulty It Was The Dems That Were in charge of Supporting Slavery and States Rights and Grand Poo Poo's of the KKK. Nowadays They Hide The Racism By All The Social Programs designed To Keep The Poor Man Breathing{ barely} and Voting In Slavish Gratitude... If LBJ hadn't seen the Political Advantage..

  • (Show?)

Pat, you aren't seriously thinking i'm glorifying or promoting the Confederacy, are you? satire, man, satire (albeit not hilarious).

gbu, LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act out of conviction; from Wikipedia:

The bill divided and engendered a long-term change in the demographics of both political parties. President Johnson realized that supporting this bill would mean losing the South's overwhelming support of the Democratic Party. Legend has it that he remarked after signing the Act, "We have lost the South for a generation."

It Was The Dems That Were in charge of Supporting Slavery and States Rights and Grand Poo Poo's of the KKK.

"Dixiecrats" such as Strom Thurmond supported segregation (and worse).

They switched parties to become Republicans ... a party that better reflected their "confederate" views about race.

Trent Lott got into trouble -- not for saluting an old man at his birthday party -- but for saluting the old man's long-since discredited racist views.

Gordon must agree that a little segregation would have cured all our "problems." How else could he support yesterday's leftovers like Trent Lott?

People seem to get unnecessarily hung up on symbols. Good thing T.A. didn't use a swastika.

I feel a more effective poster would be with their heads in each others arse, and a light bulb with the string hanging in between them so then they both are trying to find the string, and each other's head at the same time.

I thought this was pretty funny. The people that don't get this are the same as people that don't get things like Borat.
