Blazers are Back!
Jeff Alworth
The Blazers just dispatched the Seattle Supersonics to go to 1-0, the first time they've had a winning record in a long time. It's a totally new Blazers team. Toward the end of the fourth quarter, Portland trailed 99-90, and they didn't lose heart. They managed to climb back in it, made big plays at the end of the game, and made their free throws. Home town boy Ime Udoka, who was playing for the Fort Worth Flyers in the Continental League last year (and isn't even on the main player page of the Blazers site), was on the court at the end of the game and made two huge free throws to put Portland ahead. And rookie Brandon Roy looked like a six-year vet, playing Ray Allen tough on D, leading the offense part of the time, and shooting 10 for 16 from the floor.
After several years in the wilderness, maybe things are finally about to change (double entendre intended)....

booya! We might finally have a capable replacement for Isiah Rider (in my opinion, the only quality 2 we have had since we traded Drexler). Turning my attention to things over which i have some control: I am going to celebrate this victory by ensuring a few more, and canvassing and/or phone banking every day until the election.
I can't wait to relax and watch us beat up on the Mavs the following Sunday.

I do miss the Jail Blazers days. I still love Rasheed and I miss Bonzi. Maybe Zach has turned it around...looks more and more like Darius is going to be done for the year. Come on though...Rip City? It was fun but the Jail Blazers were much more fun. Who knew what was going to happen? Who knew who was going to be arrested next? Now what do we have to look forward to? A team that is going to play their butts off and be great off the court. The future is bright but what am I going to do for excitement now?
P.S. I am a season ticket holder so don't hold my sarcastic thoughts against me.

A little Blazermania wouldn't be so bad for a change.

Go Blazers ... and take Paul Allen with you!
Brandon Roy is shining example of what happens when --instead of drafting yet another 18-year-old who is nowhere near ready to play in the NBA-- you draft adults who can actually legally walk into a bar and order a drink.
Wow! what a concept.

Absolutely. If it takes the Blazers to get Oregonians on the same team, I'm all for it.
