DLCC/ActBlue partnership rolls into Oregon

This year, the battle for the Oregon House is one of the top ten targeted legislative campaigns in the nation.

That's why Oregon recently joined a dozen other states in the rollout of ActBlue to state-level campaigns. Last week, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) and ActBlue announced a partnership to roll out ActBlue's services to targeted states.

ActBlue makes it super-easy to donate directly to Democratic candidates. Anybody can create their own personal fundraising page, set goals, and track progress.

“This is water for the grassroots,” says Michael Davies, Executive Director of the DLCC. “Not only will it help putting Democrats over the top this year, when state legislatures are evenly divided, and put Democrats in a strong position for redistricting, it will lay the groundwork for Democratic success for years. ActBlue and the DLCC are dedicated to winning, now and long-term. This project will pay dividends as a long-term strategic advantage for Democrats.”

Of course, you can give to State Senate candidates and statewide candidates as well. (And, of course, federal candidates.) So head on over to ActBlue and make your donation to an Oregon Democrat.

There's just six weeks until ballots start arriving in mailboxes. The first $50 you give is a tax credit that directly reduces your taxes by $50 (or boosts your refund by $50.)

So what are you waiting for? Go over to ActBlue, create your own fundraising page with your own favorite candidates, and post a link in the comments.

p.s. Here's my personal fundraising page.

Took about three minutes to create. Let's do this.

We at the Brian Grisham campaign (HD 19) have been using Act Blue for a little while now and have found it to be an excellent way to avoid paypal and other cumbersome and expensive ways to accept credit card donations. Brian Grisham's Act Blue Page is a great place to help out an awsome campaign. Also major props goes to the Mike Claude campaign for helping us out and giving us the recommendation when Act Blue was in its infancy in Oregon.

That would be "Mike Caudle" of course.

What about Democratic Party's PartyBuilter set of online tools? http://www.democrats.org/page/content/partybuilder/ There is a personal fundraiser tool. Is this different from DLCC's program?

From what I see, the Party Builder one allows you to have your own fundraising page for the DNC.

The ActBlue one allows you to set up a page to raise funds for specific campaigns.

Their search tool is a bit mixed up, though, as I told it "party committees" for Oregon and I got a bunch of stuff for other states.

I couldn't find a way to raise funds for the DPO or county parties, though.

candidates: you can and should set up your campaign page. it's easy and provides you a link to ActBlue's page you can place on your campaign's website. i set up 4 in about half-an-hour (Sara Gelser, Sam Sappington, Dan Thackaberry & Mario E Magaña); now each has an online donation option for their supporters that is not only much easier than Click-n-pledge but has a much lower cost.

as far as non-candidate fundraising, i don't think AB's gotten that far yet. get the statewide & legislative candidates in all 50 states has taken all of their resources. since they exist by donation only, if each campaign returns a small portion of the support they receive and help AB expand its abilities.

I can't speak for ClickAndPledge, but it's certainly true that ActBlue can take a while to get the money to the candidate (last I heard, every two weeks.) It's a great add-on, but I don't necessarily recommend it for my clients as a primary fundraising backend.

    Kari--

Click & Pledge is similar, although we've found it often times takes even longer. And because of how early the cut off day is in each pay period, it can be a month before you get the funds that someone donated. That can be a long time in a small campaign with limited funds.
