I really hope somewhere in their conversations that they mention and how much of a ass lars is and that on a daily basis he lies to the public about where he lives among other issues he constantly lies about. I have now stepped down off my soapbox.

I think they are making this point in another important way: by kicking his ass in the ratings!

As much as I like Al, and beleiv me I do, but I wish he masters th art of listening and not interrupting his guests all the time. I wish he will also give his co-host more time to express herself and ask questions. other than that I will come both of them to Portland.

Sorry to hear that Franken is a supporter of Bush's war on Iraq, and I hope someone will challenge him on that issue.
May 10, '05
Hey Mike!
Franken supported Clinton with is illegal and immoral war in KosovO. He also was supporting Clinton at the time Clinton secretly armed the mujahedeen in Bosnia by breaking the UN arms embargo and shipping $800 million in arms from Iran to them without even his CIA chief knowing about it.

Hey Andy-
Did you happen to hear Cheney admit he broke the US arms embargo with Iran because he thought unilateral arms embargoes don't work and they only punish American business? It was during the Vice Presidential debate. I'm practically quoting him verbatim. I guess we only need respect the laws with which we agree.
Explain the KOsovo/Bosnia thing? And how did Clinton "hide" $800 million dollars? Maybe it's where the 8 BILLIONS dollars are we sent to Halliburton?

Hey Gregor!
how did Clinton "hide" $800 million dollars?
Here's a place to see thousands on references to how he hid it: www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=clinton+arms+embargo+iran+bosnia
Explain the KOsovo/Bosnia thing?
Elaborate please.

Never heard him say it, but I would like to read it if you can find me the links. Then I can comment on it. Did these arms go directly or even indirectly to Islamofacist like they did in Bosnia?

Hey, did anyone else posting on this thread get an unsolicited message from Lars this morning about his ratings?
May 10, '05
Gee, you think Franken might, and you hope he will, mention Lars? That'd be a real shocker. Yep, headline news.
Keep the nitroglycerin at hand.

Hey, if you're attending the Franken DPO fundraiser tonight at the Paris Hilton, come by and say hi. I'll be volunteering there - not sure what I'll be doing, but perhaps taking money?? Put a name to a face, type of thing.

Andy-
Here is what Cheney said, "What happens when we impose unilateral sanctions is, unless there's a collective effort, then other people move in and take advantage of the situation and you don't have any impact, except to penalize American companies." Cheney was defending Halliburton's dealing with Iran at that time.
At the links you provided I also found this quote:
"Two Policies: Clinton Blocks Congress' Policy of Lifting the Arms Embargo ... embargo has guaranteed that Iran is a key supplier of arms to Bosnia"
The common theme with these scripts is that rather then let someone else make money, we should sacrifice our principals because if we don't trade with them, someone else will. It's kind of the standard "profits make perfect" and "profits before principals" theme common to the Republican fight for the free market.
Did Islamifascists benefit directly or indirectly? We're talking about Iran, do I need to give you the link? But seriously, why are we going back through something almost a decade later?
And finally, those 8 billion dollars missing in action? How does one "lose" 8 billion dollars?

Oh God! More than one person on the internet named Albert! Whatever will I do?
May 10, '05
Sorry nothing intentional but that happens to be my name; we are all on the same team except for sally. Sally are you still in the area or are you like lars, poking your stick thru the fence, yelling about how bad Oregon and portland is?
May 10, '05
hey Gregor!
Cheney was defending Halliburton's dealing with Iran at that time.
What time period are you referencing?
And finally, those 8 billion dollars missing in action? How does one "lose" 8 billion dollars?
And where does this tie in with our conversation and what 8 billion are you talking about?
I'll post a reply to your other comments after work today.

Hey Gregor!</font></div> <div><font face="Arial"></font> </div> <div><font face="Arial">Here is what Cheney said, "What happens when we impose unilateral sanctions is, unless there's a collective effort, then other people move in and take advantage of the situation and you don't have any impact, except to penalize American companies." Here's the entire question and quote from the October 5, 2004 Debate Between the Vice Presidential Candidates in Cleveland</font></div><div> <font face="Arial">Ms. Gwen Ifill "Mr. Vice President, in June of 2000 when you were still C.E.O. of Halliburton you said that U.S. businesses should be allowed to do business with Iran because, quote, unilateral sanctions almost never work. After four years as vice president now, and with Iran having been declared by your administration as part of the axis of evil. Do you think, do you still believe that we should lift sanctions on Iran?"</font> <font face="Arial">Mr. Cheney "No, I do not. And, Gwen, at the time I was talking specifically about this question of unilateral sanctions. What happens when we impose unilateral sanctions is unless there’s a collective effort then other people move in and take advantage of the situation. And you don’t have any impact except to penalize American companies. We’ve got sanctions on Iran now. We may well want to go to the U.N. Security Council and ask for even tougher sanctions if they don’t live up to their obligations under the initial, the International Atomic Energy Agency nonproliferation treaty. </font> <font face="Arial">We’ve dealt with Iran differently than we have Iraq partly because Iran has not yet as Iraq did violated 12 years of resolutions by the U.N. Security Council. We’re working with the Brits and the Germans and the French, who have been negotiating with the Iranians. We recently were actively involved in meeting with the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency. And as I say, there will be a follow-up meeting in November to determine whether or not Iran’s living up to their commitments and obligations. And if they aren’t my guess is then the Board of Governors will recommend sending the whole matter to the U.N. Security Council for the application of international sanctions, which I think would be exactly the right way to go.</font> <font face="Arial">We’re addressing North Korea on a similar basis, working with the Chinese, the South Koreans, the Japanese and others to try to bring them around. One of the great byproducts, for example, of what we did in Iraq and Afghanistan is that five days after we captured Saddam Hussein Muammar Qaddafi in Libya came forward and announced that he was going to surrender all of his nuclear materials to the United States, which he has done. This was one of the biggest sources of proliferation in the world today, in terms of the threat that was represented by that. The suppliers network that provided that headed by Mr. A.Q. Khan has been shut down. We’ve made major progress in dealing here with a major issue with respect to nuclear proliferation. We’ll continue to press very hard on the North Koreans and the Iranians as well."
Do you know that it wasn't Halliburton that dealt with Iraq, but its French subsidiaries Dresser-Rand and Ingersoll Dresser Pump Co.? They were already selling parts to Iraq a year before Halliburton acquired them in 1998. To my knowledge, Halliburton did not violate any U.S. laws by owning these companies doing business with Iraq and D-R and DPCo didn't violate the U.N. oil for food program. But I could be wrong.

What are you talking about??? Do you think war is only to make money for corporations? Remember the quote by Eisenhower, "Beware the military-industrial complex". The truth is in this farewell address, his aids modified what he had already written down which was "Beware the congressional military-industrial complex." Still this all has nothing to do with my original post that was confronting Al Franken's support of other wars that we should have not been involved in, let alone supporting groups which were then and still are classified by the state department as terrorist organizations. It seems as though you could care less if we are supporting or fighting our enemies, but your biggest fears are over people making money on war. Are you sure you want to still stand behind your preceding statement? Do you really believe that "Republican fight for the free market"? The only real free marketeers seem to be the Libertarians. As far as your saying "profits make perfect" and "profits before principals", that's what laws are to regulate. Every business person has their own morals and if they are unethical, there is a warm bed in hell for them. But Democrats, Republicans and independents are equally capable of being unethical.</font></div> <div><font face="Arial"></font<> <div><font face="Arial">Did Islamifascists benefit directly or indirectly?
