Heh, "breaking news" usually isn't something that happened yesterday. ;)

I had to serve jury duty with him and really wanted to hit him for his borderline anti-Semitic comments. I restrained myself, but I must admit it was difficult.

So wasn't he off the School Board the last time he got arrested, or does this clinch it?
If not, why not? You can't serve in the Leg. with a current felony rap, why should the PPS Board be any different?
Anyway, here are a few reasons why I couldn't care less about Derry Jackson's rap sheet:
BlueOregon? No. Blue Oregon? No. Red-assed Oregonian? Sure, and make it a double.

Um, am I the only one who doesn't understand John's post?
And for the record, I think it's very worth questioning the role of Julia Brimm-Edwards work for Nike while on the school board. I think it's in the direction of conflict of interest.
But Derry really should learn to follow the law. What example does he set for the kids?

Mr. Jackson's 15 minutes of infamy should've been up 20 minutes ago. His refusal to step down is an embaressment to the board and a clear signal that his self interest trumps the interest of the community he serves.

Lemme break it down for ya, Rorovitz:
There needs to be a mechanism for removing people from the School Board who are currently in jail, I think.
But other than that, the fact that Derry Jackson has violence issues that landed him yet again in jail isn't worth the two minutes they spent with it on the Channel 6 Evening News, or the paragraph Kari spent posting it to BlueOregon. It was news the first time. Now it's flogging a dead horse.
This isn't Derry's first go-round with the law. So what has changed since then?
Or, if you like, shorter JD: So what?
